Devlog Update - October 4, 2024
1. Font Integration
- Integrated Roboto and Orbitron as main fonts for the project, resolving errors related to missing font files.
- Fonts will now be used for titles, dialogues, and body text.
2. Star Wars-Style Opening Crawl
- Implemented an animated scroll-up sequence for the game’s opening, similar to the Star Wars intro.
- Adjusted scrolling speed and timing for a smooth flow of the introductory text.
3. Character Definitions
- Defined the primary characters Kara Voss and Aeris to enable their dialogue and interactions in the scenes.
- Resolved errors related to undefined characters during initial dialogue exchanges.
4. Scene Transitions & Dialogue Implementation
- Successfully set up transitions from the Star Wars-style opening to the bridge scene with accompanying dialogue between Kara and Aeris.
5. Gauntlet Menu Planning
- Began planning for a Gauntlet menu mechanic, which will include a tutorial for players to learn how to interact with the gauntlet.
- The menu and features will be scripted separately from the main story for easier management.
6. Asset Creation
- Started working on key background and character art in the Sketchbook app.
- Created basic backgrounds for the bridge room and captain’s cabin, as well as assets such as the gauntlet, captain’s chair, and cabin desk.
7. Project Reset
- Decided to rebuild the project in Ren'Py from scratch, ensuring better organization and planning for future development.
- Will use the Ren'Py Action Editor to handle more complex features in the game.
